摘要: During November-December 1987, a series of experiments were conducted at Palmer Station, Antarctica, to study the effects ultraviolet radiation (UV) on phytoplankton collected from Arthur Harbor, Anvers Island, Antarctica. Three parameters studied: (1) primary production rates; (2) photo-synthetic pigments; and (3) photosynthesis-irradiance responses. These monitored during short-term relatively long-term exposures varying levels UV radiation. The results this monthlong provide evidence some potentially deleterious enhanced Antarctic phytoplankton. implications these findings our understanding ecology Southern Ocean are discussed.
