Generalized calcinosis cutis associated with probable leptospirosis in a dog

摘要: A 6.5-year-old male German Shepherd acutely developed renal and hepatic disease. Serology revealed high concentrations of antibodies against Leptospira copenhageni, a presumptive diagnosis leptospirosis was made. The dog successfully treated with antibiotics supportive care over 12-day period. Sixty-two days after the initial presentation, alopecia predominantly involving dorsum perineal areas developed. skin lesions expanded 20-day Histology generalized calcinosis cutis follicular atrophy. An injection 0.01 mg kg-1 dexamethasone suppressed serum cortisol concentrations. No treatment given resolved following 30 days. This is third case that has in an adult severe systemic Both previous cases association blastomycosis. To authors' knowledge, this first report bacterial infection.
