Religious orientation and psychological well-being: The role of the frequency of personal prayer

摘要: Objectives. The aim of the present study was to examine role religious acts within relationship between measures orientation and psychological well-being, theoretical view that religion can act as a coping mechanism. Design. Correlational statistics, principal components analysis with oblimin rotation multiple regression were used relationships number religiosity well-being measures. Method. A sample 474 UK students (251 males, 223 females) administered questionnaire three aspects (intrinsic, extrinsic, Quest), frequency personal prayer church attendance, alongside depressive symptoms, trait anxiety self-esteem. Results. Though significant correlations found using identifiable suggests is dominant factor in well-being. Conclusions. results suggest two points: (1) may be mediated by well-being; (2) an important variable consider theory coping.
