Effects of Bilingual Teaching Strategy on Pupils’ Achievement in Mathematics in Oyo state Primary Schools

The mode of instruction used by teachers Mathematics (being core subject) seems contributory performance pupils primary schools. This study investigated effect Bilingual teaching Strategy on pupils’ achievement with view improving such. research adopted pre-test, post-test control group using 2×2 factorial matrix. subjects consisted 141 five pupils. Two local governments were randomly selected out four Oyo town. Each government was clustered into two groups; schools from groups and assigned treatment, making Four instruments, namely; Achievement Test, Pupils Attitude Scale, Teacher Instructional Guide Teaching Conventional Strategy, collect data. Three hypotheses tested data analyzed descriptive statistics Analysis Covariance (ANCOVA). result showed that there significant treatment (teaching strategies) achievement. [F (1,141) =185.372, P 0.05]. Findings also imply attitude does serve as hindrance their Mathematics; among other discoveries. work, therefore, recommends, inter-alia, should utilize bilingual approach support enhance performance.
