摘要: Under the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) International Technology Scanning Program, a team of 13 U.S. bridge engineers and advanced composite experts from State transportation agencies, academia, industry conducted 2-week scanning tour Europe Japan. The purpose was to assess state technology in use materials, known as fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) or polymer matrix composites (PMCs), design construction. visited United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Japan 14 28 October 1996. included 23 project sites, 1 manufacturing site, 5 workshops that provided an overview developments applications PMCs engineering. technical findings can be summarized under three categories: new construction, strengthening existing structures, seismic retrofit. This report provides information on objectives, scope, format, participants. is followed by summaries topic areas. Project descriptions for each sites are included, brief assessments technologies their potential uses States.
