摘要: Gynodioecy, the coexistence of functionally female and hermaphroditic morphs within plant populations, often has a complicated genetic basis involving several cytoplasmic male-sterility factors nuclear restorers. This complexity made it difficult to study genetics evolution gynodioecy in natural populations. We use quantitative analysis crosses among populations Silene vulgaris partition variance for sex expression into components. also mitochondrial markers determine whether effects on can be traced variance. Cytoplasmic variation epistatic interactions between loci accounted significant portion crosses. Source population ratio variation. Crosses greatly enhanced dam (cytoplasmic) effect, indicating that most among-population was at loci. is supported by large frequency haplotypes, which our data. discuss similarities structure we observed influence previous work putatively neutral loci, as well implications this what mechanisms may create maintain are influenced selection.
