摘要: Abstract Purpose There is enormous range in the reported rates of breast reconstruction. This study explored reasons for this variation by reviewing published literature to examine reconstruction, factors associated with uptake, and possible barriers. Methods A systematic review was performed. Eligible studies reconstruction variables uptake women undergoing mastectomy early invasive or situ malignancy. Results Twenty-eight eligible were included, reporting 159,305 cases 940,678 women. In these 16·9% underwent immediate delayed (range 4·9–81·2%, median 23·3%). Variables were: patient/tumour (early stage, no adjuvant therapy, young age, white race, private insurance, higher education/income), surgeon/hospital psychological/other (including patient choice). Conclusion Rates highly variable. Reconstruction appeared be offered a minority women; around half took up offer. The main included patient-related therapy-related factors. Clinicians' beliefs about may an important factor. could increased discussion options when chosen required.
