摘要: Context. Visible and near-infrared spectra of asteroids are known to be susceptible nanophase irons produced by space weathering processes, thus making mineral identifications difficult. Mid-infrared spectroscopy may retain more features owing its lattice vibrational nature. Aims. We investigate the structure reflectance spectral feature changes olivine grains before after simulated weathering. Methods. irradiate using pulsed laser simulate varying degrees micrometeorite bombardments. Reflectance measurements from 0.5 25 μ m radiative transfer calculations were carried out in order compare them with each other. Results. Both experimental simulations modeling results indicate that mid-infrared can survive intense irradiations. Although Christansen Feature is slightly shifted longer wavelength, major bands remain essentially unchanged, because quite immune even strongest irradiations, as revealed both X-ray diffraction Raman scattering measurements. Conclusions. much productions amorphous materials used reliably remote detections minerals on asteroid surfaces.
