摘要: Background In southern Scandinavia most babies with respiratory distress syndrome are initially treated nasal continuous positive airway pressure. We performed a multicenter trial to investigate whether the addition of single dose porcine surfactant administered during short intubation before occurrence serious deterioration could reduce subsequent need for mechanical ventilation. Methods randomly assigned 35 infants moderate-to-severe therapy (Curosurf, 200 mg per kilogram body weight) plus pressure and 33 alone.
