More E-Books, Less Print?—What Does Usage Data Tell Us?

摘要: As academic libraries transform their buildings to provide more study space, librarians may consider increasing e-book acquisitions as a space saving strategy. However, what extent library's collection is used remains central question. Using two subject collections examples, this case analyzes one usage data for both electronic and print books over 5-year period (2011–2015) in order gain insights into patterns, trends, user preferences, behaviors between format. Based on the sample data, finds that not only was e-books substantively used, but also noticeably higher than print.
