摘要: Abstract An IFAT was used to determine the prevalence of Neospora-specific IgG antibodies in serum from Alabama horses. Serum samples (n=536) were asymptomatic horses routinely submitted for equine infectious anaemia virus infection testing. We also subjected a 13-year-old horse with CNS disease necropsy examination isolation and vitro cultivation protozoal organisms. In antemortem tests, this positive Neospora sp. western immunoblot. Results survey indicated that present 62 (11.5%) 536 samples. Endpoint titres 1:50 (35/6.5%), 1:100 (19/3.5%), 1:200 (7/1.3%) 1:1600 (1/0.2%). Tachyzoites first seen cultured bovine turbinate cells 32 days after inoculation spinal cord homogenates disease. reacted known N. caninum-positive horses, cows, dogs mice, but did not react murine anti-Toxoplasma gondii or anti-Sarcocystis neurona serum. Ultrastructural features tachyzoites results comparison tachyzoite immunodominant proteins revealed they identical those hughesi, species described recently naturally infected horse. The isolate recovered study (designated NA1) is thought be an although confirmation awaits additional molecular characterisation. These provide some evidence hughesi valid infections may occur widely separated geographic regions United States.
