摘要: [1] Secondary calcite shelfstone deposits in caves can be used to precisely measure tilting over geologic timescales. Calcite deposited along the edges of former pools surveyed within a single millimeter, and dated using uranium-series disequilibrium. Two southern Sierra Nevada, California, contain tilted glacial age. A third cave contains similar but untilted deposit older interglacial The record glacio-isostatic rebound following melting an ice cap ∼15,000 years ago. Models crustal flexure beneath mapped thickness reproduce observed with effective elastic (Te) approximately 5 km.
