摘要: This paper discusses materials from a legal case, People v. Hyatt (2001). was criminal case in which one of the authors (Simon Cole) agreed to appear as an expert witness for defense. Cole’s expertise derived his research field Science and Technology Studies (STS), so appearance exemplified STS engaging public controversy about contested form ‘scientific’ knowledge. work testimony proved useful defendants seeking restrict admissibility forensic fingerprint evidence court, but before he could testify trial, own subjected hearing.
