摘要: Ghrelin is a hormone predominantly produced in and secreted from the stomach. involved many physiological processes including feeding, stress response, modulating learning, memory motivational processes. does this by binding to its receptor, growth secretagogue receptor (GHSR), found relatively high concentrations hypothalamic mesolimbic brain regions. While feeding metabolic effects of ghrelin can be explained on regions that have more permeable blood barrier (BBB), within periphery demonstrates limited ability reach extrahypothalamic where GHSRs are expressed. Therefore, one most pressing unanswered questions plaguing research how GHSRs, distributed protected BBB, activated despite ghrelin’s predominant peripheral production poor transverse BBB. This manuscript will describe activates central encourage synthesis independent activation may also contribute modulation behaviours.
