摘要: Background. Scientific advancement, particularly in the area of information communication technology (ICT), challenges mode knowledge advancement at universities. Such are especially evident postgraduate (PG) research supervision, light of the changing students’ demography, whereby there is a radical shift from full-time campus-based students to part-time students. This challenge is compounded by many countries not considering competency as requirement for PG supervision – result static and outdated curricula. Objective. To explore perceptions nursing with regard process. Methods. A quantitative study was conducted University KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban, South Africa using non-convenience sampling. The Research Experience Survey questionnaire adapted current study. Ethical clearance obtained UKZN’s Ethics Committee. population consisted coursework Master’s who were registered project module during 2012. total 56 participated, response rate 70%. Data analysed Statistical Package Social Sciences 19 (SPSS 19) (IBM Corp., USA). Results. findings revealed that more than half respondents (66.2%; n=37) rated level support supervisors moderate on scale low high. period attendance status within university identified factors influencing supervisors.
