摘要: Hurricane Andrew revealed inadequate construction practices were utilized in Florida for decades. In response, adopted a new statewide code—the 2001 Building Code (FBC)—which became one of the strictest nation. We use 10 years paid insured loss data to show that FBC reduced windstorm losses by up 72%, then our results conduct benefit-cost analysis (BCA). The passes BCA margin $6 full $1 added cost, with payback period approximately 8 years.
