摘要: Spatial navigation encompasses the capability to compute various paths leading one's goal. In order achieve such a feat, system must also have access animal's current location. Although latter is well documented with over forty years of research devoted hippocampal place cells, how goal location coded and kept in memory much more debated issue. Here, we review evidence that processing occurs within small network structures involving at very least hippocampus frontal cortex. Indeed, growing suggests path planning relies on extended neural network, each its subcomponent ensuring specific role overall process. We suggest understanding remembered can only be achieved through better characterization time-defined events during both behavioral levels.
