摘要: The mature seed of celery (Apium graveolens, L.) contains a small axile linear embryo surrounded by endosperm which occpies the bulk seed. is living and consists mostly large angular thick-walled cells containing aleurone grains (often with globoids) lipid droplets. — Using de-embryonated seeds, it has been shown that was induced to break down gibberellin. became swollen lost their contents each cell wall hydrolyzed. However, thin resistant layer remained around protoplast. hydrolysis caused into individual could be plasmolyzed therefore appeared still living. All responded gibberellin in similar way although near radicle degrade more rapidly than those elsewhere. There no change absence hormone. response apparently specific did not occur presence ethylene, kinetin, abscisic acid indole acetic acid. results were same light darkness. It thought breakdown during germination such as involved release hydrolases from expanding embryo. this study indicate might arising itself released
