摘要: Abstract Purpose: Little data exists in the medical literature describing response of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to abdominal and pelvic irradiation. To clarify use this modality setting, study assesses short- long-term tolerance 28 IBD Methods Materials: From 1970 1999, (10 patients—Crohn's disease, 18 patients—ulcerative colitis) were identified underwent external beam or Mean follow-up time after radiation therapy was 32 months. Patients treated either by specialized techniques (16 patients) minimize small large irradiation more conventional approaches (12 patients). Acute late toxicity scored. Results: The overall incidence severe 46% (13/28 Six (21%) experienced acute necessitating cessation therapy. Late requiring hospitalization surgical intervention observed 8 (29%). One patient both an as well toxicity. For undergoing approaches, 5-year actuarial rate 73%. This figure 23% for ( p = 0.02). Conclusions: Because potentially irradiation, judicious must be employed. Definition location activity careful attention technique may allow treatment these acceptable rates morbidity.
