摘要: UNLABELLED This study examined perceived risks, benefits, and desired information related to willingness volunteer in preventive HIV vaccine trials. SAMPLE Purposive sampling was used select 90 participants among injecting drug users (Philadelphia, PA, U.S.A.); gay men (San Francisco, CA, black Americans (Durham, NC, U.S.A.). METHODS A qualitative interview guide elicited relating trial participation. Themes were developed from the transcribed texts freelists. RESULTS Stated a similar across three communities. Eight benefits reported, including self-benefits, altruism, stopping spread of AIDS. Seven risks negative side effects safety issues, contracting vaccine, social stigmatization.
