摘要: Carabid beetles are found in a variety of Montana crops, although their impact on the food web is poorly known. To detect aphidophagy using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), carabids were fed single aphid and allowed to digest for increasing time intervals. Aphidspecific PCR primers used amplify DNA from carabid beetles. For laboratory-fed beetles, detection decreased with longer digestion periods. Further, there differences among genera proportion positive at tested Field surveys 273 individual beetle gut contents, representing seven genera, all surveyed cropping systems, except Microlestes Pasymachus, DNA. Genera Calosoma, Harpalus, Pterostichus, Amara, Agonum, Bembidion. The detectability prey context predator size discussed.
