Analysis of the dumping syndrome on morbid obese patients submitted to Roux en Y gastric bypass

摘要: OBJECTIVE: The objective of this research was to determine the real prevalence and characteristics dumping syndrome in a series cases submitted laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for morbid obesity. METHODS: We assessed symptoms 34 patients who had undergone that procedure; they filled questionnaire, which included clinical diagnosis score proposed by Sigstad. RESULTS: regarding patients' complaints, 44%. This number increased 76% when applying Sigstad's score. most frequent were "need lying down" (88%), fatigue (69%) sleepiness (69%). Only 28% dumpers felt incapable performing everyday activities. There no difference weight loss percentage between non-dumpers. CONCLUSION: Sigstad is an usefull tool diagnostic dumping, but critic vision must be adopted using pacients submited Roux en Y bypass. group, although usually under-diagnosed; it neither hampers activities considerably, nor helps weight-loosing process.
