摘要: Wolbachia-mediated protection against viral infection has been extensively demonstrated in Drosophila and mosquitoes that are artificially inoculated with D. melanogaster Wolbachia (wMel), but to date no evidence for antibacterial Drosophila. Here we show carrying wMel shows reduced mortality during enteric - not systemic the opportunist pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, is more pronounced male flies. associated increased early expression of antimicrobial peptide attacinA, followed by a ROS detoxification gene (gstD8), other tissue damage repair genes which together contribute greater host resistance disease tolerance. These results highlight route important symbiont-mediated from infection, can protect hosts eliciting combination tolerance mechanisms, these effects sexually dimorphic.
