The Impact of the Built Environment on Bicycle Commuting: Evidence from Beijing

摘要: This paper aims to contribute existing literature on the effects of built environment bicycle commuting, examining case Beijing. A group city-wide random samples is analysed. The analysis shows that commuting significantly associated with some features when many demographic and socioeconomic factors are taken into account. Higher destination accessibility, a higher number exclusive lanes, mixed greater connectivity between local streets tend increase use bicycle. These differ across gender, age income groups. However, residential density has no significant for while levels public transit services tends decrease rather than commuting. results imply drastic changes in major reason demise ‘the kingdom bicycles’ China.
