摘要: Objectives. To evaluate the accuracy and efficacy of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in patients Background. AEDs are standard therapy out-of-hospital resuscitation adults have led to higher success rates. Their use children adolescents has never been evaluated, despite recommendations from American Heart Association that they be used >8 years age. Methods. This was a retrospective cohort study Results. AEDs were assess cardiac rhythm 18 with mean age 12.1 ± 3.7 years. The rhythms analyzed 67 times included ventricular fibrillation (25), asystole/pulseless electrical activity (32), sinus bradycardia (6), tachycardia (4). AEDs recognized all nonshockable accurately advised no shock. Ventricular 22 (88%) 25 episodes or administered shock times. Sensitivity specificity for accurate analysis 88% 100%, respectively. One patient survived, whereas 3 9 survived. Conclusions. These data furnish evidence provide detection delivery young adolescents. AED is potentially as effective it adults.
