Tumor implantation following percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy insertion for head and neck and oesophageal cancer: Review of the literature

摘要: BACKGROUND Because of publication bias, there is uncertainty about the true incidence tumor seeding or implantation in patients with head and neck oesophageal cancer undergoing percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) insertion. METHODS In order to obtain a more reliable estimate risk, systematic review was undertaken. Randomized non-randomized studies case reports were identified by electronic searching. A risk bias assessment carried out for each study. RESULTS Ninety-eight cases from 74 published 1 unpublished identified. Synchronous distant metastases present 37%. Analysis series (6192 patients) considered carry moderate suggests an after PEG insertion 0.32%. Studies carrying lower indicate closer 2000. CONCLUSION The probably less than 1000.
