A review of current practices to increase Chlamydia screening in the community - a consumer-centred social marketing perspective

摘要: Background: Chlamydia trachomatis is one of the most frequently reported sexually transmitted infections (STI) in Australia, UK and Europe. Yet, rates screening for STIs remain low, especially younger adults. Objective: To assess effectiveness interventions targeting young adults community-based settings, describe strategies utilized them according to social marketing benchmark criteria. Search strategy: A systematic review relevant literature between 2002 2012 Medline, Web Knowledge, PubMed, Scopus Cumulative Index Nursing Allied Health was undertaken. Results: Of 18 identified, quality evidence low. Proportional varied, ranging from: 30.9 62.5 educational settings (n = 4), 4.8 63 media 6) from 5.7 44.5 other 7). Assessment against criteria found that incorporating principles were more likely achieve positive results, yet few did this comprehensively. Most demonstrated customer orientation addressed barriers presenting a clinic screening. Only treatment after result. Promotional messages typically focused on providing facts accessing testing kit. Risk assessment tools appeared promote among higher risk groups. Few evaluated following results; therefore, impact remains unknown. Discussion: Future should consider utilizing comprehensive approach, using formative research increase insight segmentation tailoring interventions.
