Presence of Palaemon macrodactylus in a European estuary: evidence for a successful invasion of the Gironde (SW France)

摘要: Palaemon macrodactylus, an exotic shrimp native to the northwest Pacific Ocean, has been recorded in many estuaries along Atlantic coast of Europe since late 1990’s. In this study, a regular monthly survey, held 1992 middle section Gironde estuary, revealed species’ rapid and full colonization system its appearance samples during summer 1998. Gironde, population P. macrodactylus is self-sustaining species now established there. Our study highlights two important elements that might explain successful colonization: ability quickly invade niche under-exploited by similar greater reproductive output. The species’spatio-temporal distribution relation environmental variables was studied compared with longirostris. shown mainly inhabit polyhaline mesohaline which are sections generally females species.
