Taking older people's rights seriously: the role of international law.

摘要: Older people face many difficult challenges that amount to a deplorable violation of their basic human rights (poverty, discrimination, denial social services, etc.). However, the world has been slow react. Factors limit global responses aging include: limited political will, prevalence neo-liberalism, and NGOs' longstanding advocacy for other seemingly "more" disadvantaged groups. Such oppression discrimination against older require concerted world-wide response. We contend introduction an international convention on is most relevant. Reinforced by potent monitoring system, should contain comprehensive legally binding provisions participating states promote people's rights.
