摘要: Abstract Histological observations of the cornea have identified presence multiple layers with differing thickness and function. The composition consists primarily collagen fibrils held together proteoglycans but an aqueous interstitial component being dominant. Indentation provides a means to quantify spatial variation mechanical properties cornea, however role different on indentation response has barely been addressed. In addition, fluid content its displacement during not adequately considered. this study relatively large spherical tipped indenter (R = 500 μm) is It was observed that initial phase loading did fit classic Hertz elastic showed steeper slope gradually declines increasing force displacement. A simple approach developed initially considers as poro-elastic bi-layer contact problem, outer thin stiffer Bowman's layer overlaying thicker less stiff stroma.
