摘要: Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are effective in the treatment of asthma and markedly reduce numbers inflammatory cells bronchial biopsies. However, effect ICS on profile biopsies smokers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is unknown. We have performed a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study to compare fluticasone propionate (FP) 500 μg twice daily via dry powder inhaler placebo (P) over 3-month period subjects COPD. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy biopsy was carried out at baseline after 3 months treatment. Thirty-one completed trial 30 paired were available for analysis.
