摘要: Seasonal variations in primary production (PP) the Kara Sea are underresearched. Previous studies only collected data during autumn or late summer. However, middle of summer is close to beginning growing season, when PP can contribute significantly annual water column integrated (IPP). In addition, differences be expected spatial and vertical distribution phytoplankton communities this period. This gap midsummer was addressed within framework a multidisciplinary research cruise by R/V “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh” (from 15 July 18 August 2016). High values IPP (> 200 mgC m−2 day−1) surface chlorophyll (Chl a) concentration (Chl0 > 1 mg m−3) were associated with Ob–Yenisey river plume, located central part Sea. Beyond influence western southwestern regions Sea, well-pronounced subsurface maxima (SCM) observed. some cases, Chl a SCM exceeded Chl0 two orders magnitude. often accompanied (SPM). At stations where pronounced, reached 500–800 mgC m−2 day−1, > 30 % accounted for SPM-integrated PP. Thus, linked chlorophyll-specific biomass depended on strength SCM.
