摘要: The Northeast German Lowland Observatory (TERENO-NE) was established to investigate the regional impact of global change. TERENO-NE focuses on lowlands, for which a high vulnerability has been determined due increasing temperatures and decreasing amounts precipitation projected coming decades. In order facilitate in-depth evaluations effects changes to separate natural anthropogenic drivers in region, seven sites were chosen comprehensive monitoring, at selected proxies from geoarchives used substantially extend instrumental records back time. It is this combination diverse disciplines working across different time scales that makes observatory unique observation platform. This article provides information about general characteristics observatory, including monitoring presents examples interdisciplinary research activities some these sites. manuscript also illustrates how improves our process understanding, remote sensing techniques are fine-tuned by most ground-truthing site DEMMIN, soil erosion dynamics have evolved, greenhouse gas rewetted peatlands can reveal unexpected mechanisms proxy data long-term perspective current ongoing changes.
