摘要: Dorsoventral patterning of the Drosophila embryo requires Nudel, a large mosaic protein with protease domain. Previous studies have implicated Nudel's domain as trigger proteolytic cascade that activates Toll signaling pathway to establish dorsoventral polarity in embryo. However, function other regions Nudel has been unclear. By using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and site-directed mutagenesis, we obtained evidence N-terminal region contains site for glycosaminoglycan (GAG) attachment is required patterning. Disruption this blocks disulfide-based association between N- C-terminal polypeptides activation We discuss how GAG chain on might be activation.
