摘要: Locally advanced colorectal cancers form a distinct subgroup where contiguous organs could be involved without distant metastases and so may amenable to curative surgical resection. It was our objective report experience in treating six such patients with operable locally carcinomas. We retrospectively reviewed the case notes of 47 who were diagnosed at M S Ramaiah Medical Teaching Hospital between years 1996 – 2001. Six identified T4 lesions, adjacent organ involvement no nodal involvement. The treatments outcomes for these then reviewed. Two three rectal malignancies underwent pelvic exenteration succumbed disease recurrence within first 18 months. One colonic died non malignant causes. other two are free till date. Aggressive multivisceral resections might appropriate. Rectal when considered exenteration, but more guarded prognosis apply.
