摘要: Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of light-exposed sediments is used increasingly as a mean establishing sediment deposition chronology in wide variety late Quaternary studies. There has been considerable technological development the last few years n instrumentation, preferred mineral, and various measurement proto- cols. New approaches to latter, especially with introduction single-aliquot regenerative-dose (SAR) protocol, have given rise an increasing number ages li- terature based on OSL signals from quartz. This paper examines reliability these results by reviewing both published unpublished SAR quartz for which some independent age control exists. It first discusses studies modern (zero age) sediments, implications importance incomplete bleaching, water-lain i.e. initial light exposure expected insufficient reduce apparent dose at negligible fraction final burial dose. then compares derived types sedi- ments, including aeolian, fluvial/lacustrine, marine glacio-fluvial/lacustrine. concluded that, general, are accurate, that there no evidence systematic errors over range century least 350 ka. Nevertheless, uncertain- ties small probably underestimated. We conclude reliable chronological tool; this conclusion reflected its growing popularity
