摘要: Proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is an annual cereal crop domesticated approximately 10,000 years ago in the semiarid regions of China. It primarily grown India, Nigeria, Niger, and used Europe North America as fodder birdseed despite its highly nutritive health-promoting benefits. Recently, high content different minerals amino acids along with a low glycemic index gluten-free property grains have attracted industry scientific communities. has been rotational winter wheat-fallow cropping system western Great Plains USA owing to water-use efficiency. This practice not only prevents loss organic matter from no-till soil but also reduces weed disease pressure. Regardless impeccable environmental health benefits proso millet, it remains under researched underutilized crop. Plant breeders across globe are trying develop superior varieties using both classical advanced breeding procedures. However, lack genetic map adequate genomic resources slowed improvement process. germplasm representing wide diversity conserved gene banks maintained by several countries. The rapid growth research form linkage development, novel molecular marker identification availability next-generation sequencing, together high-throughput phenotyping promise accelerate breeding. development cultivars which yielding, lodging seed-shattering tolerant, direct combine-ready nutrient enriched, would promote increased cultivation, use food industry.
