摘要: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the disease-free survival in hypopharyngeal tumors submitted to postoperative radiotherapy. METHODS: we retrospectively studied 174 patients with following distribution: two cases of stage I, four II, 46 III and 122 IV. Regarding gender, 163 were male 11 female; mean age was 56 years. All underwent pharyngolaryngectomy; neck dissections radical 206 selective 16. One hundred six radiotherapy, a dose 58.2 Gy. RESULTS: Histological examination showed pT1, 15 pT2, 100 pT3 57 pT4. As for lymph nodes, 25 had no involvement (pN0); 149 presented node invasion (pN +).  Five-year 40% overall 28%. According results histological examination, five-year 75% clinical versus 28% IV. CONCLUSION: The initial manifestation squamous cell carcinoma hypopharynx happens advanced stages (III IV), superior III.
