摘要: White matter (WM) involvement in chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) was assessed using voxel-based regressions of brain MRI against CFS severity scores and duration 25 subjects with normal controls (NCs). As well as morphometry, a novel quantitative analysis T1- T2-weighted spin-echo (T1w T2w) signal level performed. Severity included the Bell disability scale based on 10 most common symptoms. Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS) depression anxiety were nuisance covariates. By relaxing threshold for cluster formation, we showed that T1w is elevated increasing ventrolateral thalamus, internal capsule prefrontal WM. Earlier reports WM volume losses neuroinflammation midbrain, together upregulated myelination suggested here, are consistent midbrain changes being associated impaired nerve conduction which stimulates plastic response cortical side thalamic relay same circuits. The T2w versus comparison group NC revealed right middle temporal lobe WM, where communication can affect cognitive function. Adjustment markedly strengthened statistics increased size both regressions, but adjustment less so. Thus, statistical confounders meaning they contribute variance to this does not correlate co-located from severity. itself only detected associations volume, also located We propose reciprocal brain–body brain–brain through provokes peripheral central responses Although anxiety, may share biological features, present evidence indicates distinct disorder. © 2015 Authors.
