摘要: Summary We examine the effect of social institutions related to gender inequality on development outcomes. By characterizing and applying recently developed Social Institution Gender Index (SIGI) its sub-components, we show how are associated with female education, child mortality, fertility, governance (corruption) in developing countries, even when controlling for other socioeconomic cultural factors. Policies focusing affecting gendered outcomes need consider inequalities as a constraint promoting ways reduce institutions.
