摘要: In this paper the results of a recent characterization Rio Piscinas (SW Sardinia, Italy) hydrological basin are reported. such area (about 50 km2), previous mining activities caused serious heavy metal contamination surface waters, groundwater, soils and biota. Acid mine drainage phenomena were observed in area. The main sources tailings stored tunnels abandoned along fluvial banks. A methodological approach was adopted order to identify relations between water contamination. Representative samples stream sediments collected. XRD analyses performed for mineralogical characterization, while acid digestion carried out determining contents. Batch sequential leaching tests assess mobility. Also groundwater sampled specific locations suitably characterized. All information collected allowed understanding effect on contamination, thus contributing qualitative prediction pollution evolution basis Finally, potential remediation strategy is proposed.
