摘要: Objectives/Hypothesis: Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is less invasive and more tissue sparing than extirpative techniques, with an assumed benefit of diminished postoperative pain. Oral opioids are commonly prescribed after but associated adverse effects, including gastrointestinal neurologic symptoms. Nonopioid analgesics have been suggested to offer similar pain control efficacy fewer effects. Study Design: To investigate analgesia in FESS, a prospective randomized, double-blinded comparison hydrocodone/acetaminophen 7.5/750 mg (an opioidderivative) rofecoxib 50 (a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor) was performed. Methods: Forty subjects were enrolled, which 28 successfully completed the study. Subjects recorded peak levels requirement for rescue on day 4 days thereafter. On 5, exit survey effects overall satisfaction recorded. Results: In this study, there no statistical differences between groups at any point period, regardless extent surgery. Adverse effect profiles also two groups. Conclusions: The use nonopioid FESS may provide oral opioids.
