Polypropylene/SiO2 nanocomposites with improved mechanical properties

摘要: Polypropylene-SiO2 nanocomposites were synthesized using twin-screw extruders. The properties of the studied two different inorganic fillers: colloidal (sol) and powder silica nanoparticles. Reinforcing toughening effects nanoparticles on polymer matrix found at a loading 4.5 wt.%, which is lower than for most particulate filled composites. use led to microstructure when compared with that pure polymer. Addition produced good filler dispersion while resulted in aggregated particles matrix. There was no noticeable improvement mechanical added On contrary, presence silica-sol nano-particles an increase both Young modulus impact strength, from 1.2 GPa 1.6 Gpa 3.4 kJ/m2 5.7 respectively.
