摘要: In the period of adolescence physical appearance takes on significant importance in construction personal identity, including one's relationship with own body. A variety social, cultural, psychological and factors influences self-perception dental decision to undergo orthodontic treatment. Adolescents who seek treatment are concerned improving their social acceptance. The aim present study was determine associated desire for among Brazilian adolescents parents. sample consisted 403 subjects aged 14 18 years, selected randomly from a population 182,291 schoolchildren same age group. outcome variable "desire treatment" assessed through questionnaire. Self-perception aesthetics using Oral Aesthetic Subjective Impact Scale (OASIS) Dental Index (DAI) used clinical assessment. Statistical analysis involved chi-square test as well both simple multiple logistic regression analyses. majority (78%) desired 69% parents reported that children were not due high costs involved. There association (p ≤ 0.05) between most types malocclusion. However, there no variables gender age. following considered treatment: upper anterior crowding ≥ 2 mm parents' perception child's need
