摘要: As part of a survey human leishmaniasis in Nicaragua we examined phenotypic and genotypic characteristics 40 Leishmania isolates. We identified 3 distinct parasites associated with cutaneous disease this area; panamensis (40% cases), braziliensis (33%), strain which exhibits the heterozygous isoenzyme DNA fingerprinting patterns expected L. panamensis/L. hybrid (27%). There was complete correlation between data for each putative hybrids examined. All 'hybrids' were obtained from foci northern region country where occur sympatrically. These observations provide strong evidence sexual reproduction New World populations suggest that it is taxonomic epidemiological significance.
