摘要: Abstract The concept of using genetic engineering to improve the natural insecticidal activity baculoviruses emerged during 1980s. Both academic and industrial laboratories have since invested a great deal effort generate genetically modified (GM) or recombinant with dramatically improved speeds kill. Optimal production methodologies formulations also been developed, safety ecology thoroughly investigated. Unfortunately, initial excitement that was generated by these technologies tempered when industry made critical decision not complete registration process GM for pest insect control. In this chapter, we summarize developments in field from historical perspective provide our opinions as current status future potential technology. We will argue are valuable viable tools control both alone combination wild‐type viruses. believe highly effective biopesticides still bright modern agriculture public awareness acceptance organisms, including baculoviruses, increases.
