摘要: Article-at-a-Glance Background Quality improvement (QI) is a focus of hospital managers and policymakers. The role registered nurses (RNs) in QI hospitals vital because most hospital-based RNs provide direct care to patients. skills are necessary identify gaps between current best practice design, implement, test, evaluate changes essential for R.N.s participate effectively QI. Newly licensed nurses' (new nurses') positions as caregivers could have an impact on if lack sufficient knowledge, concepts, tools required Methods Data came from the 436 respondents (69.4% response rate) 2008 eight-page mailed survey participants nationally representative panel new who graduated August 1, 2004, July 31, 2005. Results Overall, 159 (38.6%) thought that they were "poorly" or "very poorly" prepared about had "never heard of" Their perceptions preparation varied widely by specific topic. Baccalaureate (B.S.) graduates reported significantly higher levels than associate degree (A.D.) evidence-based practice; assessing practice, teamwork, collaboration; many research-type such data collection, analysis, measurement, measuring resulting changes. Discussion Registered-nurse educational programs need improve education application concepts consider focusing content into separate course some confidence faculty will teach it. Despite strong hospitals, do not see connection successfully performing their jobs. Both nursing should help make connection.
