摘要: Researches have suggested several techniques (ie.: pupil masking, coronography, nulling interferometry) for high contrast imaging that permit the direct detection and characterization of extrasolar planets. Our team at JPL, in previous papers, has described an instrument will combine best these techniques: a single aperture visible corograph. The elegant simplicity this design enables powerful planet-imaging modest cost. heart is light interferometer producing deep, achromatic nulls over wide optical band pass, coherent array mode fibers 2 key to suppressing level scattered light. Both components are currently being developed have produced intial results. Likewise, demonstrate current levels already consistent with final requirements.
