摘要: It is now accepted that in developing countries community-based rehabilitation (CBR) the most effective way to meet needs of disabled. The proportion population Papua New Guinea (PNG) having access CBR not known. purpose this project was clarify extent services PNG. hoped by establishing services, communication and cooperation between them would increase, leading more efficient use limited resources (human otherwise) available for A questionnaire sent all known existing provincial health departments, hospitals church services. 47% response rate achieved. Results showed provinces have some form but spread equally throughout Most are based urban centres rural badly served except Highlands Region Sepik provinces, which appear be comprehensively CBR. do exist hampered lack human material difficulty accessing clients due transport difficulties. There a greater movement into community with government backing. greatest effort being made Callan Services Disabled Persons Wewak its group Special Education Resource Centres also carry out an appropriate address disabled PNG population, order successful it requires backing trained personnel.
