摘要: The stability of a liquid film flowing down an inclined plane is considered when the contaminated by insoluble surfactant and subjected to uniform normal electric field. treated as perfect conductor air above dielectric. Previous studies have shown that, acting in isolation, has stabilizing influence on flow while field destabilizing influence. competition between these two effects focus present study. linear problem formulated solved at arbitrary parameter values. An extended form Squire's theorem presented argue that attention may be confined two-dimensional disturbances. characteristics for Stokes are described exactly; growth rates modes finite Reynolds number computed numerically. We plot neutral curves dividing regions instability, trace how topology changes intensity varies both clean film. With sufficiently strong field, curve consists lower branch trapping area stable around origin, upper which stable. present, similar situation obtains, but with additional island disjoint from branches.
